EPIC, Coalition Calls for Surveillance Reforms in Response to DOJ Surveillance of Congress and Reporters
Within a coalition notice , EPIC and more compared to twenty civil society groupings called for reforms to monitoring statutes authorizing collection of delicate information and gag purchases. The letter follows recent revelations that the Department of Proper rights spied on members associated with Congress and the press simply by collecting their communications plus issued gag orders to cover that surveillance. The coalition also called for a thorough analysis by Congress and the DOJ. EPIC recently endorsed legislation to stop government use of face recognition and other biometric monitoring tools.
