Senator Ed Markey (MA) plus Representative Doris Matsui (CA) introduced the Algorithmic Justice plus Online Transparency Act associated with 2021 these days. The bill prohibits splendour based on protected classes pertaining to algorithmic processes on the web platforms, requires online system companies to create and maintain documents about their algorithms meant for review by the FTC, plus sets out a standard for exactly what safe and effective algorithmic processes will be. The bill also requires the creation of an inter-agency task force to investigate discriminatory algorithmic processes including the Federal government Trade Commission, Department associated with Housing and Urban Growth, Department of Education, Division of Justice, and the Section of Commerce. EPIC promotes the bill, and has already been advocating for Algorithmic Transparency plus Equity , particularly urging state, federal, plus international governments to regulate dangerous AI guided by the Universal Suggestions for AI . A year ago, EPIC petitioned the FTC to establish the rule making regulating algorithmic tools in order to address splendour.
